Typical project:
- Transfer of BEE understanding and skills to relevant levels and roles within the organisation
- Determine baseline BEE score
- Identify, recommend and implement (where possible) quick win initiatives to improve BEE performance in the short term
- Identify areas of focus for the longer term
- Develop competitive BEE strategy aligned with the company's overall growth strategy
- Plan longer term initiatives to improve BEE performance over the longer term
Note that due to the demand from clients, we can prepare rating files and manage the verification process with the Rating Agent on behalf of our clients to ensure maximum scoring, but we only do this as part of an overall long term BEE strategy project.
Ownership and Management
Typical activities:
- As part of an overall strategy, we will determine the extent to which a client should implement an Ownership deal or top-up deal
- Identify the best method for a client to score points under Ownership
- Identify suitable type and scale of black empowerment partners, ensuring alignment to the organisation's business or growth strategies
- Determine suitable BEE Ownership and Management structures and the scale of these
- Determine suitable board and management structures
- Assess Ownership structure compliance with the Codes and make recommendations for any changes required
- Assess Ownership scorecard and advise clients on how to improve scores
- In conjunction with our parent company Bravura Equity Services, implement a transaction for a client
Enterprise Development
Typical activities:
Determine extent to which a client can score points for existing initiatives, or how existing initiatives can be tweaked for compliance, while bearing in mind risk, cash flows and the most efficient mechanism for scoring points
- Identify how the organisation could be supported through the development of Enterprise Development initiatives in the areas of suppliers, outsourcing opportunities and growth opportunities
- Advise the client on the timing, nature and scale of investments in Enterprise Development, as well as how to ensure projects are sustainable and lead to job creation
- Advise the client on how to evaluate potential project ideas against a set of assessment criteria designed specifically for the organisation
- Design monitoring and reporting tools for Enterprise Development initiatives, to ensure they are proactively managed and evaluated against initial objectives
Design and implement an Enterprise Development Fund on behalf of a client (where appropriate)

Preferential Procurement
Typical activities
- Recommend initial focus areas for Preferential Procurement in terms of gathering procurement information from suppliers
- Recommend Preferential Procurement strategies in line with procurement best practice and integrated (where appropriate) with an organisation's Enterprise Development strategy
- Assist key suppliers to BEE compliance
- Formulate policy for Preferential Procurement
Talent Management
Typical activities
- Analyze the extent of the Employment Equity challenge
- Develop strategies to attract, develop and retain key skills
- Develop Skills Development strategies including learnership programmes which are linked into Employment Equity and succession planning
- Formulate policy for Employment Equity and Skills Development
Socio-economic Development
Typical activities:
- Develop a strategy linked to the organisation’s business objectives to ensure value-add to the organisation
- Link this strategy to initiatives within other elements of the BEE scorecard, where applicable
- Design monitoring and reporting tools for Socio-economic Development initiatives, to ensure they are proactively managed and evaluated against initial objectives
- Formulate policy for Socio-economic Development
BEE Reporting & Monitoring Systems
Typical activities:
- Develop systems to gather data required for BEE rating
- Propose systems to incentivise achievement of BEE targets
- Develop internal/external PR plans
